Kalli – shouting through the bathroom door (because mothers have absolutely no personal space or boundaries. All of my offspring seem p
retty convinced that I always want to hear what they have to say at the exact moment they want to share it with me…whatever that moment looks like. Praise the Lord for locks on the strategic doors of the house…) – “Mom! Dad’s home and we are going to have rice cakes and peanut butter and jelly for lunch!!!” (exclamations are insufficient to truly communicate her level of enthusiasm)
Me: “Ok – tell Dad that there is also beans, salsa, corn chips, sausage, and cheese if he wants.”
A moment of silence… I thought she had scampered off.
Kalli: “Um, Mom?”
Me: “Yes?”
Kalli: “I’m pretty sure that’s not gonna happen…because I already forgot.”
