A Compliment – or not?

Kalli (my seven yr old): “Mamma – you are the BEST mom!”
Me, glowing: “Thank you, Sweetie.”
If she was going to make my day, she should have just stopped there – but in five seconds she continued…
Kalli: “…even if you aren’t NORMAL – you are still the best.”
Me, no longer glowing: “Thank you.” (I think??????)
Kalli: “Besides, normal mom’s are not as fun as weird moms…”
???
Moral of the story…what YOU think your child is saying, and what they are really saying, can be worlds apart!!!! ?
